Woman power in the Hindi film industry is on the rise. One of the more powerful producers in the industry, Ekta Kapoor is set to align with director Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari for two projects in the coming year. Kapoor made the announcement on her Twitter account.

"Magic happens when creative women come together. Excited to collaborate with Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari. We are producing two films together, one of which will be directed by @Ashwinyiyer!" Kapoor wrote.

Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures will co-produce the two films in association with Iyer Tiwari and Sanjay Shetty's Earth Sky Pictures. Of the two films, one will be directed by Iyer Tiwari herself, while another will be helmed by a first-time director.

In a quote to Bombay Times, a daily, Kapoor said, "I had seen Nil Battey Sannata (2016) and had messaged her (Ashwiny Iyer Tiwari) appreciating it. Next, we met on a Chennai-bound flight, sitting one behind the other, where we roughly chalked out a plan to work together. Eventually, after months of exchanges, we're here. We get along really well. Our sensibilities work beautifully, in tandem with each other. There's so much depth to every scene, every character she creates. When you have new talent, you mentor, but when you have talent like Ashwiny's, you ally with her because she brings something distinct to the table."

This is not Kapoor's first collaboration with a fellow female producer. She is currently co-producing Veere Di Wedding, with Rhea Kapoor, actor Anil Kapoor's daughter. The film, starring Kareena Kapoor Khan, Sonam Kapoor, Swara Bhasker and Shikha Talsania is schedueld to be released on 1 June 2018.

Iyer Tiwari too expressed her excitement on Twitter: "There is so much more to films! Looking forward for this beautiful world of storytelling to evolve as @ektaravikapoor and I get our creative forces together for the pure love of cinema. Gratitude," she wrote.

The Bombay Times report also quotes Iyer Tiwari as saying, "There is nothing corporate about our equation. We didn't join hands saying that, 'Come, let's make a blockbuster'. She keeps everything simple. She also understands human behaviour and has amazing insights about the psyche of the Indian audience."

Kapoor's Balaji Motion Pictures is currently co-producing Kamal Haasan's Vishwaroopam II, Veere Di Wedding, and Kedarnath starring Sara Ali Khan and Sushant Singh Rajput.
