Singer Mika Singh has been arrrested in Dubai in the United Arab Emirates for allegedly sending obscene cell phone messages to a Brazilian minor.
According to a source, however, the popular singer is likely to be released after a few days on the payment of a hefty fine.
According to the source, Mika Singh was in the desert emirate to perform at an awards show and befriended the 17-year-old Brazilian girl at the afterparty.
"Mika Singh met this girl at the afterparty of the 10th Masala Awards Night. He was drunk and they exchanged numbers. He must have sent the obscene messages from his hotel room,” said the source.
Ironically, the singer was put behind bars on the very day his song 'Aankh Marey' from the forthcoming Rohit Shetty film Simmba (2018) was released.
As soon as news of Mika Singh being detained in Dubai broke, the singer began trending on social media. Actor and film critic Kamaal Rashid Khan urged Shah Rukh Khan and Salman Khan to come to Mika Singh's aid.
“Now only Salman Khan and SRK can save Mika Singh," he tweeted. "If they won’t call the sheikh then Mika Singh will remain in lockup for 3–4 months. And he can’t leave the country after getting out on bail also till the case is disposed of.”

But our source said efforts are on to secure Mika Singh’s release. “He will be in custody for a couple of days since the UAE is shut on Friday and Saturday. The courts will open on Sunday and Mika Singh is likely to get released after paying a hefty fine,” the source said.
This is not the first time Mika Singh has landed in trouble with the law. In 2013, he was detained by the customs at Mumbai airport for carrying Indian and foreign currency beyond the permissible limit.
