While directors often spend a year or two between films, Tannishtha Chatterjee is already set with her second script after completing the shooting for her first, Roam Rome Mein.
The actress turned director with her first project, featuring Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Valentina Corti, which is set in Rome, Italy.
Now, the actress has revealed that her second directorial will be based on the growing environmental pollution in India, and is titled Dhoka Cola.
Speaking to the tabloid Mumbai Mirror, Chatterjee said, "We need to tell stories which are progressive, break social stereotypes through mass or popular culture. My film speaks about environmental issues in the city. If we can't breathe fresh air or eat fresh fruit what is the point of development?"
Chatterjee's second script has already been picked up by the Asia Pacific Screen Awards (APSA) which funds films at the script level. The script was among 15 such projects picked from around the world.
Produced by Eros International and Rising Star Private Limited, Roam Rome Mein is expected to be released in theatres in 2019. The film is made up of an ensemble cast of Indian and Italian actors, led by Siddiqui and Corti.
Chatterjee is currently working on the post-production of the film.
