Actress Darshana Banik will be seen in a thoroughly commercial film for the first time. The yet-untitled film will be directed by Abhimanyu Mukherjee under the banner of Eskay Movies. The film will also feature Srabanti Chatterjee, Soham Chakraborty, Om Sahani, Kanchan Mullick, Biswanath Basu and Subhasish Mukherjee among others.

“This is my first directorial with Eskay Movies. I have worked as a scriptwriter and assistant director with them previously. I am extremely happy and excited to work with Himanshu and Ashok (Dhanuka), who I have known for a long time,” Abhimanyu said.

According to him, the film will be a comedy. “The film is a hilarious comedy, starting from the first scene. There is not much to invest your thoughts in the film. There is no social message. We only wish the audience to come, laugh and go home” the new director added.

“I have only started my work in the industry and I have a lot to do. I wanted to do a commercial film for a long time. I am grateful to Abhimanyu da and Himnashu da for this opportunity,” said Banik, who plays a girl from a middle class family of north Calcutta in the film. “I cannot wait to work with Om, Srabanti and Soham da, whose performances I have been watching for many years,” she added.

The film will go on floors this month. Abhimanyu is currently shooting for Teko, starring Srabanti Chatterjee and Ritwick Chakraborty.
