The film centres around Shroff’s character and his vast family, all of whom gather at a hospital when their relative falls ill and has to be put on a ventilator.

The whole family, including a smiling Shroff, looking very different from his Hindi films, gather for a family photograph in this first poster from the film.

This is the first time in his 40-year career that Shroff has signed on for a Gujarati film. The actor’s father is Gujarati and he plays an actor in the film. In the Marathi original, Ashutosh Gowariker’s character was a director.

Mapuskar is also making a cameo on the film, taking up the cameo actress-producer Priyanka Chopra does in the original. He plays a director who conveys the news of a relative's illness to Shroff's character. The film was shot in Filmcity, however, Mapuskar didn't have to speak Gujarati in the film, he spoke his lines in Hindi and English.

Ventilator is due to be released on 14 September.
