The five female protagonists of Birsa Dasgupta's upcoming film Crisscross, which narrates an urban tale of womanhood, have been in the news since the launch of the film's teaser. The characters of Nusrat Jahan, Jaya Ahsan, Mimi Chakraborty, Priyanka Sarkar and Sohini Sarkar represent different stories that touch on a few of the crises that women face.

Mimi Chakraborty had earlier said that Crisscross is one film made in Bengal that has no ‘hero’ in the poster. However, this is not to say that the film does not have male lead characters. Actor Arjun Chakraborty and Gaurav Chakrabarty will be seen important roles in Crisscross.

While Arjun essays the chef stay-at-home boyfriend of Ira (Mimi), Gaurav reportedly plays Ahaan, who runs an advertising agency and who is chivalrous and charming at the same time. Also, he plays a crucial role in helping the women come out of their difficult times.

“I can’t reveal what assistance he is of to the girls as that would give away the story,” the actor told The Times of India, a daily, and but confirmed that "Aahan is a very small character but integral to the film.”

Gaurav was seen in a cameo role in Dasgupta’s Gangster in 2016.

Crisscross is slated to be released on 10 August.
