Actor John Abraham has confirmed that he will star in the sequel of Sarfarosh (1999), that had Aamir Khan in the lead.

The film will be helmed by John Matthew Matthan, who had also directed the original.

While talking to PTI, a news agency, John also revealed that he will be co-producing the film along with the director.

“John Mathew Matthan and I are co-producing the film. We are still working on the script but yes it's happening with me. We plan to go on floors next year. He is probably the only director whose house I went to after seeing Sarfarosh and said ‘Man what a film,’” he said.

Khan’s performance in the film was highly appreciated and is still remembered. When asked if this will put any pressure on him, John said, “I am in fact very excited. I love Aamir Khan, I'm his big fan. It's a challenge but it's a different character, different story but the ethos is the same. It's going to be very exciting.”

The original film, that also featured Naseeruddin Shah, Sonali Bendre and Mukesh Rishi, won the National Award for Best Popular Film Providing Wholesome Entertainment.

Starting with Parmanu (2018), John has a series of action films lined up for this year, including Satyameva Jayate, Batla House, RAW: Romeo Akbar Walter and now, Sarfarosh 2.
