Receiving threats since Adangathey trailer released: Director Shanmugam Muthusamy


The director claimed that the film is inspired by real incidents like the Godhra violence and the Coimbatore blasts, and he used Saffron clothes in it.

Shanmugham Muthusamy, director of upcoming film Adangathey, says he has been recieving threats ever since the trailer of the film was released.

Adangathey, according to the director, is based on real life incidents. "My film is inspired by real life incidents. Incidents like the Godhra violence and the Coimbatore blasts are featured in the film," he said, adding, "The story is about how Indians don't yield to problems but are willing to face the problems and overcome them."

The film stars music director and actor GV Prakash Kumar in the lead along with actress Surabhi. Sarath Kumar and Mandira Bedi, too, will be seen in important roles. The director also stated that Sarath Kumar plays a politician in the film, while GV Prakash, the protagonist, will play a mechanic. "Mandira Bedi plays a police officer in my film, which begins with the infamous Coimbatore Blasts incident," Muthusamy informed.

He says he has been criticized for using saffron clothes in the film. "Several people have scolded me after watching the film's trailer. I have been getting threats.They also say that I have been getting funds through Hawala," said Muthusamy.

The director claimed that the film does not intend to hurt sentiments. "This movie has been made with a noble intention. I have faith that it will be cleared by the censor board [Central Board of Film Certification]. We are hoping to release this film for Diwali," he said before signing off.
