Director C Sivakumar, who directed Ayudha Pooja in 1995 and Rettai Jadai Vayasu in 1997, was found dead under mysterious circumstances at his residence in Chennai yesterday (2 August). He was 46.

Police sources say that his house in Venkateswara Nagar in Virugambakkam, had remained locked for two days. The neighbours called the cops after foul odour emanated from the house. The police broke open the door and found the director's decomposed body.

Reportedly, the director was watching television at the time of his death.

Sivakumar had earlier worked as an assistant with director-actor K Bhagyaraj and was not married. The police suspect he may have died of a heart attack. However, they are also exploring the possibility of his committing suicide.

Police sources say they will be able to ascertain the cause of death only after the post-mortem report is ready.
