Biopics have become a trend in Hindi cinema. Hindi film actresses have had their share of biopics too. Priyanka Chopra played boxing champion Mary Kom in 2014, and Kangana Ranaut will be soon seen playing Lakshmi bai, in Manikarnika: The Queen Of Jhansi.

However, one actress is not very impressed with the new trend. Deepika Padukone, the Padmaavat (2018) actress, is not very keen on biopics as too many are being made.

Padukone was recently in Chennai endorsing a brand. In an interview with The Hindu, a daily, she was asked about the changing trends in Hindi cinema. The actress pointed out towards the repetitiveness of scripts, particularly, when it came to bopics.

“I feel like there are too many biopics being made. In the last few months, I can’t count the number of biopics that we’ve been offered. And they’re all great, they’re very strong and powerful. But when it comes to a film, after a point, how much are you going to tell me about those struggles? Even a common man on the street has had a similar journey, if you ask me,” Padukone told The Hindu

Padukone was to begin work on Vishal Bhardwaj's next opposite actor Irrfan Khan. The film, rumoured to be based on Sapna Didi, who planned underworld don Dawood Ibrahim's execution, has now been stalled as Khan is currently in London undergoing treatment for neuroendocrine tumour.

In a decade long career, Padukone has never really been part of a biopic. Her film Khelein Hum Jee Jaan Sey (2010), said to be based on the life freedom fighter Surya Sen, had Abhishek Bachchan playing the protagonist.

Padukone is rumoured to have signed another Sanjay Leela Bhansali film that will likely have Salman Khan in the the lead. Though not confirmed yet, Padukone is reportedly set to marry her boyfriend, actor Ranveer Singh, in November this year.
