Anurag Kashap is currently gearing up for the release of his latest film Manmarziyaan, starring Abhishek Bachcan, Taapsee Pannu and Vicky Kaushal. He has, however, already locked his next feature film and is set to helm an international project titled Talagh.

Said to be based on a true story, the film will revlove around the tales of two girls and will have three languages – German, Dari and Pashto. Love Per Square Foot  (2018) actress Angira Dhar has been chosen to play one of the characters, while Kashyap and team are reportedly looking for an Iranian actress to play the other.

The international project is expected to go on floors in late 2019 or early 2020.

“It will be filmed in several countries, some impossible to shoot in, so we have to figure out how to pull it off. It’ll be done in gaps between things. There is a lot I have to make time for, including taking the same journey across Asia and Europe as these two women, both physically and emotionally, before it goes on the floors,” Kashyap told Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid.

Talagh is being produced by Nurhan Sekerci, who had earlier co-produced the German film In The Fade (2017), that bagged the Golden Globe Award for Best Motion Picture - Foreign Language this year.

The film is penned by Khatera Khan and Kathrin Wilkes. Khan, a German-Afghan, achieved popularity with her Dubsmash videos in which she often lip synced to Hindi film songs. Reportedly, it was Khan was who offered the script to Kashyap. Wilkes holds the credit of writing the TV film Fasten à la Carte (2010).

Kashyap has earlier colloborated with German (ROH Films), French (ASAP Films) and American (Cine Mosaic) production houses to co-produce Ritesh Batra's The Lunchbox (2013). Talagh will be his first foreign language film.
