Have grown up watching Bobby Deol movies, says Kriti Kharbanda

The actress was pally with the Soldier (1998) actor during the shooting of Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se but not so with older brother Sunny Deol.

Kriti Kharbanda is the female lead in Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se. But she was more like a fan girl before the shooting commenced. That was because of her childhood memories revolving around Bobby Deol, who plays the Deewana in the film.

“I have grown up watching Bobby sir’s movies," Kharbanda said. "So, when I met him, it was my fan girl moment, because I remember him in Soldier (1998) shaking his head and dancing. With him, it didn’t take too long to break the ice. We started talking almost immediately. He is one of the most fun co-stars I have ever had.”

However, her experience with the older Sunny Deol was very different because of his angry man image. “With Sunny sir it took me one or two days to be comfortable and go beyond dhai kilo ka haath [the iconic dialogue from Damini (1993)]. I am very scared of Sunny sir. He has such an intimidating personality, yaar. Bobby sir is [like a] buddy. But something happens if I see Sunny sir,” she said.

Veteran actor Dharmendra didn’t frighten her though. “I am not scared of Dharam sir. I had never thought I would get a chance to work with him. These are people I have looked up to. Chupke Chupke (1975) is my all-time favourite film,” Kharbanda said.

Directed by Navaniat Singh, Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se will be released on 31 August.
