Sajid Khan’s Housefull 4, the fourth film from the Housefull franchise, is the first Hindi comedy on the subject of reincarnation. According to an official announcement made earlier this year, a part of its plot is also based in a 'Baahubali-like period'.
While speaking about his upcoming movie Yamla Pagla Deewana Phir Se, Deol revealed that he will be sporting long, albeit fake, hair in the period sections of Housefull 4. “It’s reincarnation and comedy. I am getting a chance to wear all these costumes. Long hair and all that stuff. Not real hair; fake long hair,” he said.
Deol was tight-lipped when asked who will star opposite him in the film, that will also feature Akshay Kumar, Bobby Deol and Riteish Deshmukh in lead roles. “This is something I can’t reveal. We all are paired opposite all the other girls. It’s as simple as that,” he said, laughing.
The actor, who has known Sajid Khan for long, even spoke about the mood on the sets. “The whole day he [Sajid] entertains us. He has his own sense of humour which is very funny. I mean, how can anyone think of Aakhri Pasta?” laughed Bobby. “I know Sajid since college days. He was always making us laugh and entertaining us. It’s fun working on the film. It’s a different kind of energy there.”
The Race 3 actor candidly informed that it was he who approached the film’s producer, Sajid Nadiadwala, for a role in Housefull 4. “Sajid Nadiadwala has worked with my dad [Dharmendra] and brother [Sunny Deol]. He always wanted to work with me. Never happened. Then finally a year and a half back, I went to his office and said, ‘Please, give me some work.’ Then eventually it happened,” he said.
The makers of Housefull 4 had earlier revealed that the VFX budget of the film is a whopping Rs75 crore. Nadiadwala has reportedly roped in London based VFX firm Double Negative for the project. Double Negative has earlier worked on a number of Hollywood films, including Christopher Nolan’s Inception (2010), Interstellar (2014) and Dunkirk (2017).
According to Deol, the heavy VFX is the reason why Housefull 4 will be released much later in 2019, during Diwali. “I have just shot for 12 days. We have just started the film. We will [re] start in September. We will finish by the end of November but the film is releasing in Diwali next year because there are a lot of special effects,” he added.
