Earlier in the week, actor-turned-producer Akshay Kumar had said that he will next star in Good News. “I’m doing a film called Good News. It's completely different. It is a real incident, but it is very funny what happened,” he told film critic Rajeev Masand in an interview.

Our source informed that the film will be produced by Karan Johar’s Dharma Productions and helmed by first-timer director Raj Mehta. While the source also added that actor Diljit Dosanjh has been roped in for the film, a few reports stated that actress Kareena Kapoor Khan will play the leading lady.

Now, the producers of the film, Dharma Productions and Akshay's Cape of Good Films, have made an official announcement regarding the cast and the release date. The film will star Akshay, Kapoor Khan and Dosanjh. Further actress Kiara Advani will also be a part of the project.

Incidentally, Advani made her film debut under Cape of Good Films in Kabir Sadanand's Fugly (2014). She was last seen in Netflix's Lust Stories (2018) and was a part of Mahesh Babu’s successful Telugu film Bharat Ane Nenu (2018).

Mehta has worked as an assistant director on well-known films like Aarakshan (2011), Teri Meri Kahaani (2012), Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania (2014), Kapoor & Sons (2016) and Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).

Good News will be released on 19 July 2019.
