Writer-lyricist Jalees Sherwani died today in Mumbai.
The dialogue writer and lyricst was suffering for the past two weeks from complications arising from his severe diabetic condition.
According to reports, Sherwani's body will be brought to his Oshiwara residence later today.
Born in Kasganj, Uttar Pradesh, Sherwani began his career as dialogue writer for Pratighaat (1987), N Chandra's second film as director, before going on to write the dialogues for films like Sangram (1993), Loafer (1996), Mrityudaata (1996) and Baaghi (2000).
The writer enjoyed a successful partnership with Salman Khan, for whom he wrote some of his most famous songs. Starting from Hum Tumhare Hain Sanam (2002), Sherwani wrote lyrics for Salman Khan's characters in films like Tere Naam (2003), Partner (2007), Hello (2008), Wanted (2009), Dabanng (2010) and Tiger ZInda Hai (2017).
It was Sherwani who wrote the title track for Dabanng, 'Hud Hud Dabanng', as well as 'Humka Peeni Hai'.
The writer-lyricist was president of the Film Writers' Association from 2008 to 2012 and again for two years from 2014.
