While thrillers are always intriguing, they are difficult to pull off. Director Karthick Naren has opted for the challenge of a fantasy thriller in Naragasooran, his second film. The trailer of the film captures a blend of mysterious fantasy and thriller, without giving out too much detail.

The trailer begins with three strangers (Arvind Swamy, Sundeep Kishan and Indrajith) talking about the same incident around a campfire. The incident in question, an accident on an abandoned road, seems to have more ominous tones by their measure. But the conversation, like the haphazardly cut trailer, seems to hide more than it reveals.

The mentions of the myth of 'Naragasooran' and a 'cursed child' seem to have no connection with the accident. Maybe that is a red herring strategy. The story seems to revolve around the two couples (Arvind Swamy-Shriya Saran and Sundeep Kishan-Aathmika) who find themselves victims of the cursed event.

Indrajith plays the cynical, rational inspector who sets out to find the truth, only to discover the strangeness behind it all.

Karthick's film has been embroiled in controversy for some time, after the director hit back against producer Gautham Vasudev Menon over delaying the release of the project. The teaser of the film was released on 17 November 2017, and the trailer has arrived on 1 August, a good six months later.

Shot over a schedule of 41 days, the film is a fantasy thriller set in Ooty. While the trailer stands true to the fantasy part, it remains to be seen if it will come through on the thriller element.

The release date of the film has not been announced yet.
