The Supreme Court rejected the plea of producer Vashu Bhagnani against the release of Atul Manjrekar's upcoming film, Fanney Khan. The film will now be out as per its scheduled release date, 3 August.

Bhagnani had moved the Supreme Court on 30 July over the distribution rights of the film. Bhagnani alleged that the film's distribution rights had been given to his company Pooja Entertainment & Films Ltd, before they were surreptitiously given over to Super Cassettes (T-Series).

The case was mentioned by Bhagnani's lawyer before a bench of chief justice Dipak Misra, justice AM Khanwilkar and Justice DY Chandrachud, which posted it for hearing before the appropriate bench on 1 August.

According to the latest reports, the bench has refused to admit a stay on the release of the film.

Pooja Entertainment & Films Ltd have always maintained that it owned the exclusive rights to distribute, exihibit and explore the commercial and non-commercial rights of the film by director Atul Manjrekar, after having entered an agreement with Prernaa Arora's KriArj Entertainment in 2017.

In May this year, T-Series has also filed a commercial suit in Delhi high court seeking an injunction and restraining the petitioners from claiming any rights in films Fanney Khan and Batti Gul Meter Chalu.

Fanney Khan stars Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Anil Kapoor and Rajkummar Rao.
