Aspiring actress strips in public to protest against exploitation in Telugu film industry

In a shocking incident, aspiring actress Sri Reddy from Andhra Pradesh stripped on the street outside the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce in Hyderabad to protest against the alleged exploitation in the Telugu film industry.

Early this morning, Reddy, whose Twitter handle is @srireddleaks, posted this tweet announcing the disclosure.

Hours later, the starlet turned up at the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce office where she was denied entry. The woman then stripped on the road to protest against the alleged sexual exploitation by Telugu film producers and directors. She didn’t name anyone though. Reddy also claimed that she has been denied membership of the Movie Artistes Association (MAA) despite having acted in three films.

The actress alleged that several people, on the pretext of giving her a film role, had asked her to send nude pictures and videos to which she obliged.

“They see the videos and give no roles. They have even asked for live nude videos from me. That is the extent to which they go to take advantage of women who seek roles,” Reddy told The Times of India.

Talking about the manner of her protest, the actress said, “This is the only way I can think of expressing my grief. If I have shown myself nude to several people in the film industry and despite that have got no roles, the only way I can protests is by going nude publicly," she said.

Reddy was also critical of the Telugu film industry for picking girls from others states over local talent.

"They give roles to actresses imported from Mumbai or others places, whereas we local girls are only sexually exploited on the promise of being given roles," she rued.

We contacted the Telugu Film Chamber of Commerce, but the gentleman who answered the phone refused to comment saying that the office had closed for the day.
