Actor Irrfan Khan might be dealing with ill health, but his latest release in China is in rude health. Saket Chaudhary's Hindi Medium, which stars Khan and Saba Qamar, has added another Rs40.61 crore on its second day at the Chinese box office. The film was released in China on 4 April, and immediately beat the last big Indian film, Dangal (2016), with its first day collections.
The film made $6.25 millon on its second day, following the $3.43 million on its first day. In Indian rupees, the second day collection amounts to Rs40.61 crore (approximately according to the current exchange rate). The film is now among the most successful Indian films to find release in China after Dangal (2016). Unlike Aamir Khan, who has a famous fan following in China, the film is led by Irrfan and lacks starpower. However, it seems that the content of the film has struck a chord with the audience overseas.
The total collection of Hindi Medium over a span of two days stands at $9.68 million which amounts to Rs62.90 crore.
