Shahid Afridi had earlier tweeted about 'innocents being shot down by an oppressive regime' in Jammu and Kashmir, and called out to the United Nations to intervene.

Former Pakistani cricketer Shahid Afridi created a stir on social media yesterday (3 April) with a tweet on the alleged human rights violation in Jammu and Kashmir by an 'oppressive regime'.

“Appalling and worrisome situation ongoing in the Indian Occupied Kashmir.Innocents being shot down by oppressive regime to clamp voice of self determination & independence. Wonder where is the @UN & other int bodies & why aren't they making efforts to stop this bloodshed?” he wrote.

Expectedly, Afridi was trolled by many including Indian cricketer Gautam Gambhir, who mocked Afridi with a cheeky tweet.

Noted writer and lyricist Javed Akhtar too reprimanded Afridi for his comment, though not as rudely as Gambhir.

“Dear Mr Afridi, since you want to see a  peaceful JK sans any human rights violations could you please see to it that Pak terrorists stop infiltrations n  Pak army stops supporting the separatists by closing down the training camps. It will greatly help in solving the problem,” Akhtar wrote.
