Yami Gautam and Kriti Kulhari have joined the cast of Uri (working title), Aditya Dhar's directorial debut. The film, based on the surgical strikes conducted by the Indian army in September 2016, will also feature Vicky Kaushal in the lead. The film is speculated to revolve around the 11 days leading into the operation, and the events that unfolded.

Produced by Ronnie Screwvala's RSVP Productions, the film will see Kaushal play the commander-in-chief who led the operations. Yami Gautam has been signed to play an intelligence officer involved in the planning and execution of the operation, while Kulhari is playing a helicopter pilot in the film.

Kulhari, who will be seen in the upcoming dark comedy, Blackmail, alongside Irrfan Khan, said, "Other than learning how to shoot with a pistol, I will be taught how to operate a chopper. I don’t have enough time to learn to fly, but I will understand the basics. I also plan to train for 10 days with army men in Colaba so I get a feel of the day-to-day training. I’m really excited about the film.”
