Hope Aur Hum title track: Mediocre number that inspires little confidence

The title track of the Naseeruddin Shah-Sonali Kulkarni-starrer Hope Aur Hum inspires little confidence from the word go. The chorus 'Hope aur hum, hope aur hum, saath rahe har dum', seems too comfortable and too simple to become memorable.
While the song begins with a peppy instrumental piece which runs through most of the track, it ends in a chorus of voices. The amateurish lyrics by Saurabh Dikshit involving simple everyday terms lend the song a touch of relatability to be sure, but they also ensure it remains largely unimpactful.
Singers Bhoomi Trivedi and Suraj Jagan lend their fresh voices to the track, and they do sound good in the beginning. However, with lines like 'Mil jayega tujhko bangla motorcar, hope mat haar, bas hope mat haar', their interest also seems to flag by the end of the 1.21-minute-long song.
The music by Rupert Fernandes seems like the real culprit stopping the track from being enjoyable or warranting repeat hearings. However, the track is in tune with the light-hearted theme of the film. The other thing that stands out are the visuals, that give a glimpse into the story of Hope Aur Hum.
The film is scheduled to be released on 11 May.
