Filmmaker Vishal Bhardwaj with direct and produce Talvar 2, based on the shocking murder of a seven-year-old school student in Gurugram last year. He will produce the project with Junglee Pictures.

In 2015, Bhardwaj had written Talvar based on the 2008 sensational double murder case of Arushi and Hemraj in Delhi. It was directed by Meghna Gulzar.

"Talvar was about much more than the heinous crime itself, the film held up a mirror to society and exposed several loopholes in the system,” Bhardwaj said in a statement.

"Such crimes shake the very moral fabric of society and need to be analysed in a much deeper sense. The world is not just black and white, there’s more to a crime than just victim and perpetrator. That’s why we have decided to continue making true crime procedurals like Talvar," added the filmmaker.

"Our journey on Talvar was more than just a film for us. It is a telling example of how big screen stories, when handled honestly and sensitively, have the power to alter the lives of people associated with the real incident. We are excited to embark on our vision of compelling storytelling, yet again with Vishal Bhardwaj, and taking the Talvar franchise forward,” said Priti Shahani of Junglee Pictures.

In 2017, the nation was left shocked after a seven-year-old Pradyuman Thakur was murdered in the washroom of Ryan International School in Gurugram. At first, the school's bus conductor was arrested as a suspect, but the subsequent Central Bureau of Investigation inquiry charged a 16-year-old class 9 student of murdering the young boy.
