Sanju first look poster: Ranbir Kapoor walks in Sanjay Dutt's shoes

While Kapoor certainly looks the part, the design of the poster is a bit underwhelming for a feature film so anticipated.

Until now, we have had to imagine how actor Ranbir Kapoor would look as Sanjay Dutt in Rajkumar Hirani's biopic Sanju through the leaked pictures from the film's sets. The first look poster of Sanju puts those thoughts to rest as five different looks — from different stages of Dutt's life — are revealed.

The poster's tagline reads, "One man... Many lives" referring to the ups and downs Dutt has experienced, both as an actor and an accused under the the Terrorist and Disruptive Activities (Prevention) Act (TADA) in April 1993.

Kapoor, in what could be the role of a lifetime, plays Dutt as an emerging young actor and star child, a hardened man in jail, Raghu from Vaastav (1999), Munnabhai from the famous Munnabhai series, and as a free man released from jail in 2016.

While Kapoor certainly looks the part, the design of the poster is a bit underwhelming for a feature film so anticipated.

The teaser of the film is expected to be released sometime today (24 April) and hopefully, will have a glimpse of Kapoor in action as Sanjay Dutt that puts aside any doubts the design of this poster brings up.

Produced by Vinod Chopra Films, Rajkumar Hirani Films and Fox Star Studios, Sanju also stars Manisha Koirala, Paresh Rawal, Sonam Kapoor, Anushka Sharma, Boman Irani, Dia Mirza, Vicky Kaushal, among others.

The film is due to be released on 29 June 2018.
