Rajkummar Rao's ability to transform himself is one of his best qualities. In the latest trailer for Hansal Mehta's Omerta, the actor manages to shock audiences by becoming the dreaded, ruthless Omar Saeed Shaikh. The trailer captures the dark side of the obsessive, ambitious terrorist who planned some of the most dreadful attacks across the world.
The trailer begins with a conversation Shaikh (Rajkummar Rao) has with abducted American journalist Daniel Pearl (Timothy Ryan). His obsession to establish his blind beliefs is the only thing driving him. Despite this chilling feeling of superhuman strength, when he faces torture, Omar Shaikh's most fearful characteristic is his ability to hide his emotions.
The scene of him wandering through the streets of Delhi, befriending foreign tourists before he abducts them, is a sign of the dual personalities he carried within himself.
Rajkummar Rao embodies the character superbly, displaying the versatility that is well known. The trailer also delves into the darker side of the Pearl abduction and murder, showing a conversation between the journalist and the terrorist.
Omerta, directed by Hansal Mehta, is set to be released in theatres on 4 May 2018. Watch the trailer below:
