Time magazine recently released its annual list of 100 'most influential people' in the world and Indians were thrilled to find cricket captain Virat Kohli and actress Deepika Padukone on it.

Padukone, the only Indian actress to make the list, was naturally thrilled to be on it. "Honestly, I have never believed in self-acknowledgement," the Padmaavat (2018) star said in a statement. "Instead, I have always looked ahead [in life].

"But I must admit that today I do feel a small sense of achievement. It is humbling to be acknowledged for the work that you do, and so, it’s my absolute honour to be part of this prestigious list alongside such incredible achievers."

Padukone's year has got off to a good start so far after Padmaavat, which was mired in controversy for the whole of 2017, was finally released in January and became a big hit.

She has also achieved some global recall after making her Hollywood debut last year with xXx: Return Of Xander Cage opposite Vin Diesel.
