Ranveer Singh won’t be performing at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premiere League (IPL) this year due to a shoulder injury, his spokesperson revealed in an official statement.

“After multiple medical check ups, the doctors have strongly advised Ranveer Singh to not perform at this year’s IPL opening ceremony in which he was doing the grand finale act. They feel his high-energy performance would only overstrain his shoulder and aggravate the injury,” the statement read.

However, the injury will not stop the actor from shooting for Zoya Akhtar’s Gully Boy as the scenes requiring physical exertion have been already shot.

“Ranveer will continue to shoot for Gully Boy as per its shooting schedule which is not physically strenuous since only performance-based talkie scenes are left to be shot,” the spokesperson added.

The ceremony will be held before the first match of the season begins on 7 April.
