While the date for it to be released edges closer, Kangana Ranaut's Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi continues filming. Pictures of actor Sonu Sood in costume as the Peshwa ruler, Sadashivrao Bhau, emerged on social media 10 April. The actor was spotted sporting the full regalia of the peshwa ruler, while on the sets in a Mumbai studio.

Mumbai Mirror, a tabloid, reported that the actor is likely to play Sadashivrao Bhau. Sadashivrao was the key Maratha general who lost his life in the third battle of Panipat in 1761.

The report quoted a source saying, "Sonu has trained in sword fighting and the long action sequences with international fight choreographer Nick Powell’s team. Last month, during a shoot in Bikaner, he shot a sequence that requires Sadashiv to fight with 70-80 men at the same time. It required several rehearsals and was shot with a multicamera setup."

The film, directed by Krish, will also see Kangana Ranaut take on the martial arts as the Rani Lakshmibai. The actress was also injured when her co-actro Nihar Pandya, accidentally hit her in the face during a stunt sequence.

The crew is currently shooting in Mumbai, post which they will depart for Madhya Pradesh for the final schedule of the film.

While Manikarnika was initially announced to be released on 28 April, the injury to Ranaut and the continued shooting could mean that the film might be released at a later date.
