The trailer offers a peek at the taut thriller which revolves around the complexities of human character, the idea of patriotism, and the collateral damage of war. If the film manages to deliver what the trailer promises, this might be another wonderful addition to Bhatt and co-star Vicky Kaushal's increasing reputation.

Bhatt plays Sehmat, a young Kashmiri girl who is married to a Pakistani officer in the budding years of the 1971 war between India and Pakistan.

Sehmat's father, played by Rajit Kapur, is a true blue patriot willing to sacrifice his own daughter's life for the sake of his country. He asks her to be "the eyes and ears for India in Pakistan". Thus, begins the girl's journey, with rigorous martial arts training, espionage tactics, and intelligence strategies. While she plays the role of a spy with elan, Sehmat's struggles also include those of her love for her husband (Vicky Kaushal), identity crises, and the complex emotions involved in being a spy.

Meghna Gulzar's film is based on the best-selling novel, Calling Sehmat by Harinder S Sikka. Bhatt's character remains, understandably, the focal point of the trailer, and the actress looks every bit the part of her courageous and chameleonic spy.

There is also the enigmatic and charming presence of Vicky Kaushal, who plays the army officer in love. While the trailer is more action packed, it is likely that the emotional complexity of this relationship might play a key role in the plot of the film. The pastel coloured visuals, and wonderful cinematography add to the buzz of this film.
