For several months, the media has been reporting that Deepika Padukone is set to play a noted gangster Sapna didi in a film penned by Vishal Bhardwaj and to be directed by his assistant Honey Trehan.

The reports stated that the film has been titled Sapna Didi and would be based on Rahima Khan aka Sapna didi's attempt to kill ganster Dawood Ibrahim.

However, co-producers KriArj Entertainment have now issued a statement saying that the film is yet to be titled and that it is purely fictional.

“Vishal Bhardwaj and Prerna Arora of KriArj would like to clarify that their co-production starring Deepika Padukone & Irrfan Khan is a fictional film and is yet untitled," the statement read.

The film will mark the directorial debut of Trehan, who has assisted Bhardwaj on films like Omkara (2006) and Kaminey (2009).

Actor Irrfan Khan will be seen opposite Padukone in the film, which is set to be released on 2 October, 2018.
