One of the things that Pahlaj Nihalani insisted when he was the Central Board of Film Certification chief was that a filmmaker, producer should obtain a No Objection Certificate (NOC) from people on whom the film is based or whose names are being used in the film.
Nihalani has gone, but this practice continues as the makers of Judwaa 2 sought permission from Alia Bhatt before using her name in the film. Varun Dhawan, who once dated Bhatt, thanked the young actress for giving them the NOC.
Dhawan expressed his gratitude after Bhatt tweeted kind words in favour of the film, which she saw last evening.
#Judwaa2 is everything you imagine it to be and MORE!!! Fun, entertaining, adorable and aptly nostalgic!!@Varun_dvn you are sooooo good!!! ð— Alia Bhatt (@aliaa08) September 29, 2017
Dhawan not only thanked Bhatt for her positive feedback, but also for letting them use her name.

The two actors made their debut with Karan Johar’s Student Of The Year (2012). The duo then dated for a few years before and split. They continue to remain friends and even worked together in Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017).
