2.0 actress Amy Jackson has been cast as Saturn Girl in the CW television series, Supergirl. The television series will mark the debut of the actress on American television. Jackson recently signed Silver Lining Entertainment and Blacksheep Management as her managers overseas.

The series, which follows the journey of Supergirl, Superman's cousin, in the DC Universe, has introduced several female characters in the previous seasons. Season 3 will see the introduction of another popular character from the comicverse, Saturn Girl aka Imra Ardeen.

Equipped with telekinetic powers, Saturn Girl possesses the power to control, manipulate and communicate through her telepathy. According to the comic books, Ardeen is born on one of Saturn's moons, and arrives on Earth to help Supergirl battle her foes.

The character was previously played by Alexz Jones on the television series, Smallville. However, the character does have an important role to play in the DC verse built on CW, with other series like Flash and Arrow also joining in. Saturn Girl is the founder member of the Legion of Heroes, an organisation of superheroes that found a fleeting mention in the last season of Flash and Supergirl.

Jackson will join a number of other actors including Adrian Pasdar, Carl Lumby, Yael Grobglas and Odette Annable in the new season of the popular television series.

This will not be the only time Jackson will play a superpowered character on screen. The actress is set to play an android opposite Rajinikanth and Akshay Kumar in the upcoming 2.0 next year.

Supergirl season 3 will open on US television on 9 October.
