Kangana Ranaut-starrer Simran, which was released on Friday, hasn’t worked at the box office. Despite the fact that the actress has been constantly in the news, the film had managed to earn only around Rs11.63 crore till yesterday (Tuesday), as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com.

Simran review: Kangana Ranaut's brilliant solo show is not enough here

However, Hansal Mehta, the director of the film, is thankful for everything that the film has given him and is feeling proud of the film. He wrote on his Twitter page: “Thankful for both the love and criticism coming our way. #Simran is an unconventional film about an unusual character. I'm very proud of it.” [sic]

Surprisingly, Mehta deleted his Twitter account on Monday. There were speculations that this was a result of the backslash Simran received from some sections of the audience. However, he returned to the micro-blogging site yesterday. After returning, he soon tweeted, “Since so many people are speculating about me deleting my twitter a/c here I am.”

A couple of weeks ago before the release of Simran, Ranaut gave an explosive interview on the television show Aap Ki Adalat where she ripped apart Hrithik Roshan for his alleged behaviour after their relationship went sour. The actress’s popularity doesn’t seem to have helped the cause of Simran, though.
