Hindu groups in Gujarat took strong offense to actress Sunny Leone's condom advertisement featured on a hoarding in Surat. The advertisement's timing, on the eve of Navratri, seems to have been the main reason for the protests.

The hoarding featured a message in Gujarati, related to the festival of Navratri. This has not gone down well with several organisations like the Hindu Yuva Vahini. The message read 'Aa Navratri a ramo, parantu premthi' (Let's play this Navratri, but with love).

The organisation has approached the Confederation of All India Traders, and written a letter to the Consumer Affairs ministry calling for a removal of the hoarding, and demanding the advertising campaign to be withdrawn.

Speaking to The Times of India, Narendra Chaudhary of the Hindu Yuva Vahini said, "The message in Gujarati on the hoarding reads ‘Aa Navratri a ramo, parantu premthi’ — this Navratri, play but with love. The insinuation on the hoardings from a condom brand insults the religious sentiments of Hindus."

The group have also requested the ministry to take appropriate action against the manufacturers and brand ambassador, Sunny.
