Hansal Mehta’s Simran and Ranjit Tiwari’s Lucknow Central have earned disappointing collections in the first weekend at the box office. Simran has probably beaten the Farhan Akhtar starrer, but that isn’t going to help its cause.

The Kangana Ranaut starrer made Rs3.65 crore on Sunday, as per figures shared by BoxOfficeIndia.com. The film had made Rs2.43 crore and Rs3.40 crore on Friday and Saturday, respectively. This takes its total to only Rs9.48 crore. With the reported cost of of film being around Rs30 crore, these numbers aren’t encouraging.

Lucknow Central has fared even worse. After earning only Rs1.74 crore on its opening day, it didn’t see any substantial growth on Saturday and Sunday, making Rs2.65 crore and Rs3 crore respectively. The film's total earnings now stand at Rs7.39 crore.

This film has been made at a cost of about Rs30 crore too. So, needless to say, there isn't much hope for Lucknow Central now.

Meanwhile, Milan Luthria’s Baadshaho slumped further in its third weekend, as expected, as it made only Rs1 crore. It has so far earned only Rs65.40 crore approximately. With its cost being around the Rs80 crore mark, this is not an encouraging number.

RS Prasanna’s Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, which had also released alongside Baadhshaho, has done well consistently and is one of the few successful films of the year. The film made Rs3.25 crore on its third weekend, taking its overall total to Rs38.39 crore approximately. Shubh Mangal Saavdhan is reportedly made at a cost of Rs25 crore.
