Basil Content Media has sponsored five Indian first time and second time filmmakers to represent the country at Platform Busan, a networking and learning initiative at the Busan International Film Festival in South Korea.

They are FTII (Film and Television Institute of India) graduates Piyush Dinkar Thakur, a Kyoto Filmmakers lab scholarship winner, and Heer Ganjwala, producer of Ralang Road, along with Gargi Kulkarni, Marathi film director and producer, Vidhu Vincent, a Malayalam filmmaker, and Antariksh Jain, a documentary filmmaker.

The five of them were shortlisted from over 120 applicants. Platform Busan is a four day initiative to be held from 14-18 October, 2017.

Speaking about it, Vivek Kajaria, founder of Basil Content Media, said in an official statement, “It is heartening to see such amazing talent all around and such strong applications. Unfortunately, we could only sponsor and send five and we are happy that these filmmakers selected also represent some of the best talent in our country. Here’s hoping they are able to make use of the platform that Busan film festival provides in their respective careers.”

Basil Content Media is known for collaborating with various international film festivals for the benefit of indie cinema. “We want to build a resource base for filmmakers across India and we hope that this one collaboration marks the first of many more to come. With Basil Content, we are committed to creating a sustainable ecosystem for indie filmmakers across the country and are thankful for festivals like Busan and the likes for believing in us to want to collaborate,” the statement read.
