Last week’s two prominent releases, Daddy and Poster Boys, had a poor first week with both failing to make a substantial impression at the box office.
Sunny Deol’s Poster Boys made Rs11 crore nett, while Arjun Rampal’s Daddy scored even lower at Rs7 crore nett, as reported by BoxOfficeIndia.com.
Made at an estimated budget of Rs30 crore, Poster Boys was released across 1,000 screens. The fate of Poster Boys was sealed when it generated a poor Rs7.25 crore nett in its opening weekend. The film barely made Rs3.75 crore in the next four days.
Meanwhile, Rampal’s Daddy based on a convicted don, didn’t find much favour with the audiences. Daddy was made at an estimated budget of Rs20-22 crore, and was released across 1,071 screens. Daddy had a poor opening weekend, collecting Rs4.50 crore nett. It fared worse than Poster Boys over the week, bagging just Rs2.5 crore nett.
Meanwhile, the preceding week's (1 September) releases, Baadshaho and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, both made Rs11.50 crore nett in their second week. The problem, though, with Baadshaho though is that it made Rs54.23 crore nett in the first week, but the second week collection dropped by over 75%.
Baadshaho has so far collected Rs65.73 crore nett, still a good Rs15 crore less to breakeven. The film was released across 2,800 screens.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, starring Bhumi Pednekar and Ayushmann Khurrana, has so far bagged Rs35.19 crore nett. Made at an estimated budget of Rs25 crore, the romantic comedy was released across 1,400 screens in India.
