After successfully directing his first Hindi film, the writer-director reveals he has an idea for its sequel, but 'it will take time'.
Shubh Mangal Saavdhan, the Ayushmann Khurrana-Bhumi Pednekar romantic comedy, which deals with erectile dysfunction, is winning over audiences with its humour and charm. The cast and crew had a success party to celebrate the audience’s response and filmmaker RS Prasanna, who remade his 2013 Tamil film Kalyana Samayal Saadham said he already an idea in mind for the sequel.
“I have already told a story to Aanandji [producer Aanand L Rai]. It will be very interesting. We were waiting for the audience's response — whether they want to listen to the next story or not, and we have received feedback from the audience. They loved Ayushmann and Bhumi's characters in the film, so definitely a sequel will happen,” Prasanna told IANS news agency.
Furthermore, he revealed that he thought of a sequel idea while he was making Kalyana Samayal Saadham. But working on the script and developing the film would take time, he warned.
The film’s lead actor, Khurrana, was keen to return to the unconventional characters and world introduced in Shubh Mangal Saavdhan and where they would go next. He said, “It's amazing, but I feel now the problem will be that what will be the 'problem' of part two. In the end of the film, we showed that his problem has sorted out, so in part two, he can become 'Alphamale'... So, we never know. We are looking for a plot line because it's a very quirky subject and it can be explored more.”
