Sobti said the strength of the film, about a group of people struggling to find a place to play their weekend game, lies in its relatability. "People related to it in their own ways," he said.

The actress, who was last seen in Rock On 2 (2016), said Tu Hai Mera Sunday "is a wonderful, slice-of-life film". Quite the athlete in her school days, Goswami regretted that she didn't get to play much football during the shooting. "I would have loved it," she said.
