Taapsee Pannu has been busy shooting for Mulk, directed by Anubhav Sinha, but that hasn't stopped the actress from training for her next film, which will kickstart soon after she wraps this one up.

Pannu plays the role of an Olympian hockey player in her next with Shaad Ali, and has begun intense practice sessions to learn the nuances of the sport.

The actress is into sports and fitness in general and has been enjoying her time on the ground. But that's not the only reason why Pannu is excited about playing a hockey player. The actress's father used to be a hockey player and she has often seen pictures of him with the hockey stick and with his team when she was growing up. And now 20 years later, she finds herself on a hockey ground too, albeit for a film.

"I have seen pictures of my father who played hockey representing Delhi University. Never thought at that point I will ever hold a hockey stick. I have always loved sports in general, but never tried hockey. It’s so coincidental that eventually when I got to play a sportsperson on screen I got to play a hockey player. I am having a great time learning the sport and I’m sure this will be one film my dad will be very keen to watch," says Pannu, who is taking tips from him, even as she trains with other professionals.

Ali's untitled film is said to be based on the story of Sandeep Singh, ex-captain and much-loved hockey player of the Indian team. Diljit Dosanjh will be seen essaying the role of Singh.
