The nominations for the Filmfare awards Marathi 2017 are out. Last year’s successful and popular films like Sairat, Natsamrat and Ventilator feature prominently in the list, as expected.

Nagraj Manjule’s Sairat became a landmark as far as box-office success is concerned for Marathi films. The film made an unprecedented collection of over Rs85 crore nett in India. This was hitherto considered unthinkable for a Marathi film. The well-appreciated film also made the film’s lead pair, Rinku Rajguru and Akash Thosar, stars overnight.

Sairat has been nominated for Best Film, Best Director, Best Actor (Male), Best Actor (Female), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Male), Best Actor in a Supporting Role (Female), Best Music Album, Best Lyrics, Best Singer (Male) and Best Singer (Female).

Rajesh Mapuskar's Ventilator, which was produced by Priyanka Chopra's company, has been nominated in seven of the 10 main categories, including Best Film and Best Director.

Similarly, Mahesh Manjrekar’s Natsamrat has received seven nominations, including for Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor (Nana Patekar).
