A few years back, director Kundan Shah had spoken about the possibility of a sequel to his classic comedy, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro (1983) with actor and close friend Satish Shah.

Satish played the character of municipal commissioner D’Mello in Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, while Naseeruddin Shah and Ravi Baswani were seen in the lead roles.

In a brief interview with Cinestaan.com, Satish informs that the director had discussed about a sequel just a month before his death on 7 October.

That was also Satish’s last meeting with the filmmaker. The veteran actor informed that the two had gone on air that day for a radio channel and had followed it up with a meal together. “That day we also discussed the second part of Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro,” said Satish.

Kundan wanted him in the sequel despite the fact that his character dies in the first film. “I was questioning him on how can I get involved because my character is already dead. He said, ‘I don’t know. We will try something to bring you back as a twin brother.' Sab hawa mein baatein ho rahi thi (We were just talking out of thin air).”

Satish, however, was of the opinion that there couldn't be a sequel to the cult film.

“I was of the opinion that part two should not be made. It cannot be made. And he also being a very noble friend said, ‘Listen, unless my actual and original crew and star cast agrees, only then I will go ahead. Otherwise, even if someone gives me Rs10 crore, I will not go ahead because that film cannot be made without you all,’” remembers Satish.
