Actress Kangana Ranaut has reportedly suffered a ligament tear on the sets of the biopic on the queen of Jhansi, Manikarnika. The accident took place when the actress was performing a stunt at the Mehrangarh fort in Jodhpur. The actress was rushed to Jodhpur's Goyal hospital, and has now flown back to Mumbai to recuperate.

The shot reportedly invovled a 40 feet jump from the balcony of the fort in a scene where Rani Laxmibai masterminds her escape during the siege of Jhansi. According to reported history, the queen jumped off the balcony with her son, Damodar, tied to her back, and escaped on horseback. However, Ranaut was unable to pull off the stunt perfectly and ended up injured.

The Quint, an online magazine, reported that Ranaut's leg has been put in a cast, and the actress has been advised rest for a week. The rest of the team is expected to shoot the remaining war sequences that do not require Ranaut's presence.

A video on Twitter showed the actress being admitted to the hospital to receive treatment for her injury.

Earlier, in July, the actress suffered a cut to her head when a sword fighting sequence went wrong. The actress was struck by the sword of her co-star, Nihar Pandya, and bled profusely. She had to get 15 stitches then.
