Bhumi Pednekar, who has tasted back to back success with Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015), Toilet: Ek Prem Katha (2017) and Shubh Mangal Saavdhan (2017) ever since she made her debut, is all set to begin work on her new film, to be directed by Abhishek Chaubey.
The film tentatively titled Sone Chidaiya, revolves around the Chambal dacoits and is set in the 1970s. While Pednekar will play Sushant Singh Rajput's love interest, both are slated to play the role of dacoits.
Pednekar has decided to go all method in the preparation process for her role, which is very different from anything she has played so far. "She will be travelling to Chambal (Madhya Pradesh) early in December. She’ll be staying there for about a week to acclimatize herself with the environment because she has no experience of living in such a rough terrain,” said a source.
It was Pednekar's idea, and not the director's, that she visit Chambal to prepare for the film. “She will live in Chambal and soak in the feel of the place before the shoot begins. For her, it will be a new way of getting into the skin of a character. She is excited about the film and wants to go all out to try and deliver a perfect performance,” the source added.
Pednekar said, “I’m super excited to be working with Abhishek (Chaubey). I have always loved his work and am thrilled to be a part of this incredible movie. For an actor, his process is unique and extremely satisfying and liberating.”
Chaubey's film to be shot in the Chambal ravines will roll early next year.
