Fringe group uses Kareena's picture to 'educate' students on ‘love jihad’

Hindu Spiritual and Service Foundation, a fringe right wing group, started a five-day fair in Jaipur for lakhs of students from government schools to spread the message of adopting a ‘Hindu lifestyle’ to face contemporary challenges.
The event also focussed on enlightening students on the concept of ‘love jihad,’ as reported by The Wire. The phrase is used by right-wing organizations and supporters to describe the alleged forced conversions of Hindu girls by Muslim men after allegedly making them fall in love with them.
The organizers used the image of actress Kareena Kapoor Khan on the pamphlets that served the purpose of educating the students on love jihad. When the publication questioned Chauthmal Gupta, co-ordinator, Hindu Spiritual and Service Foundation, for using the actress’s picture, he said, “The reason for using Kareena Kapoor Khan’s case was to make these kids, who idolise all the Khans, understand that love jihad is a trap.”
Kareena has been at the receiving end of the right wing groups and supporters for marrying Saif Ali Khan who happens to be a Muslim. Hence, they term her marriage as 'love jihad'.
As reported by The Wire, an excerpt from the pamphlet read, “Frequently check the female’s belongings, call and SMS details, warn the Muslim boy if found with a Hindu girl, call Muslims as disgusting/terrorist/smuggler/traitor/Pakistan supporter in front of females at home.”
In January 2015, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) had used the same image of the actress on the cover of its magazine Himalay Dhwani in context of love jihad.
The VHP, along with Bajrang Dal and Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) have also joined hands as organizers for the five-day event.
