The first trailer and the song, 'Ghoomar' released so far from Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavati have focussed more on the characters of Deepika Padukone and Ranveer Singh. But the latest song, ‘Ek Dil Ek Jaan', gives a lot of prominence to Shahid Kapoor's Rawal Ratan Singh.
The song celebrates the bonding between queen Padmavati (Padukone) and her husband Rawal Ratan Singh (Kapoor). It shows the queen’s unflinching dedication, love and respect towards her husband. But instead of normal going about the conventional way of showing romance, Bhansali highlights their love through depicting the normal routine — Padmavati getting the king ready for various occasions.
Despite it being an everyday happening, the love is visible clearly through the expressions of both the characters. Then there is the use of fire in quite a few sequences; something Bhansali has aways loved. The intensity of the fire always goes with the mood of his characters.
The song is a soothing romantic number. Shivam Pathak’s skillful rendition plays a large role in generating the effect. He impresses both in lower and higher notes. Lyricist AM Turaz has provided rich poetry using a simple vocabulary. The impressive music is composed by Bhansali himself.
Padmavati is all set to be released in India on 1 December and globally on 31 November.
