Akshay Kumar is on cloud nine after he met Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi today in Delhi. The actor told him about his upcoming film, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha and was happy with the PM's response.
Akshay expressed his happiness on Twitter and posted a picture from the meeting. He wrote, “Met PM @narendramodi and got the opportunity to tell him about my upcoming 'Toilet-Ek Prem Katha.' His smile at just the title made my day!”
Toilet — Ek Prem Katha is inspired by Modi's cleanliness initiative, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan. The film attempts to throw light on the harsh truth about a large number of Indians being forced to defecate in the open due to lack of toilets. The film also stars Bhumi Pednekar of Dum Laga Ke Haisha (2015) fame, and Anupam Kher.
This is not the first time that Akshay has expressed his fondness for the leader. Last year, the actor was delighted when the PM spent time with his son Aarav and called him a ‘good boy.’ The actor had tweeted the picture while writing, “Proud moment in a father's life, when the Prime Minister pulls your son's ear in jest & calls him a good boy ;).”
Directed by Shree Narayan Singh, Toilet — Ek Prem Katha will be released on 11 August, ahead of Independence Day.
