Yash Raj Films’ Dhoom series follows the same format. A smart thief creates havoc through his robberies and the authorities are unable to do anything about it. But a confident cop vows to catch the wrongdoer.
The storyline for director Bumpy’s Bank Chor follows the same pattern. The only difference is that the film is a funny take on the Dhoom series and looks promising as a crazy entertainer. The trailer of the film, which has just been released, also connects the film with the Dhoom series. Bank Chor is produced by YRF’s youth arm, Y-Films.
Three robbers, one dressed as a fake godman (Riteish Deshmukh) and the other two (Vikram Thapa and Bhuvan Arora) wearing masks of animals, barge into a bank and try robbing it. Their silliness makes things difficult for them and so does inspector Amjad Khan (Vivek Anand Oberoi). The case looks simple to the cop initially but he is in for a surprise.
The USP of the trailer is the humour – situational comedy and PJs. The most striking moment is the one when Baba Sehgal, who seems to be playing himself, utters, ‘Lips hain tere laal, Kaale hain tere baal, Pehle aaye Anna, Baad mein Kejriwal.’
The film also stars Sahil Vaid of Badrinath Ki Dulhania (2017) fame. In an interview with us, he had revealed that he is the surprise element in the film. The female lead is played by Rhea Chakraborty, who is known for her part in Mere Dad Ki Maruti (2013). But she hardly appears in the trailer.
