The duet version of 'Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin' combines the vocal talents of Nigam and Chopra with perfect balance.

Parineeti Chopra's debut as a singer in Meri Pyaari Bindu's 'Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin' was a splendid one. While the actress delivered a commendable performance in her first song, the duet version of the same sees her pair up with the pedigreed voice of Sonu Nigam.

Composed by Sachin-Jigar, 'Maana Ke Hum Yaar Nahin' (duet) has very similar rhythmic treatment, backed by a serene tabla addition. The magic of the song, though, lies in the evocative vocals of Sonu Nigam and Parineeti Chopra.

While Chopra proved herself adept at handling the song, Nigam shows why he is considered one of the best singers in the country today. His ability to delve into the emotions of the lyrics, the 'bayaan' (expression) of the ghazal, is impeccable. It adds depth to the already lilting tune.

The lyrics by Kausar Munir add to the theme of love and longing. In all, it is a memorable track that actually improves on the original version.

Meri Pyaari Bindu is directed by Akshay Roy and stars Parineeti Chopra and Ayushmann Khurrana in the lead roles. The film is scheduled for theatrical release on 12 May.
