'Sadda Move' song: Sushant moves it, as Diljit-Pardeep and Raftaar make foot-tapping Raabta song

Like a masala entertainer flick, 'Sadda Move' has all the elements needed to make a classy Bollywood-style Punjabi number.

T-Series chairman Bhushan Kumar had promised at the trailer launch of Raabta (2017) that the film would stand out for its music.

What sets the music apart is the variety on offer. The makers launched the rollicking, romantic number 'Ik Vaari Aa', and followed it up with the sensuous and peppy title track 'Raabta'. Pritam is showing his versatility as he has also scored a classy Punjabi pop track titled 'Sadda Move' that was launched today.

A team of singers Diljit Dosanjh, Pardeep Singh Sran and rapper Raftaar come together for 'Sadda Move'. While Dosanjh and Sran have taken care of the Punjabi pop part, Raftaar adds the rap touch. Rap music has been widely used in remakes of classic songs used in recent Hindi films. What works for 'Sadda Move' is that it has a nice mix of Punjabi pop and desi hip-hop music. Most importantly, it is not loud and you can’t help but whistle and groove to the music.

The writing credits for 'Sadda Move' are shared by Amitabh Bhattacharya and Irshad Kamil. The duo has been credited for 'Raabta' from Raabta too.

Kamil had also penned 'Raabta' from Agent Vinod (2012) and that perhaps explains why he was credited for the title track of 'Raabta' from Raabta. Kamil had also penned 'Sadda Haq' from Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rockstar (2011). The lyrics of 'Sadda Move' are trendy. Even King Khan (Shah Rukh Khan) finds a mention. As often, rap and Punjabi music ride more on the beats than the lyrics. Pritam deserves credit for scoring a foot-tapping number.

It has fine lyrics and great music, but the highlight of the song has to be Sushant Singh’s Rajput’s freestyle dancing. Before he was bitten by the acting bug, Rajput was part of choreographer Shiamak Davar’s dance troupe. So far, we have seen Rajput in the acting role, but no film has tapped into his dancing talent.

Rajput’s freestyle dancing and some hip-hop moves will make you want to put on your dancing shoes. His efforts are far from perfect, but just to see him dance with such gay abandon is a treat for his fans, especially those who’ve watched him perform before.

Like a masala entertainer flick, 'Sadda Move' has all the elements needed to make a classy Bollywood-style Punjabi number.
